Junior netball roundup

The first game back after Easter started with the Under 10 Diamonds playing the Port/Julatten Tigers, and it was the Diamonds who were 1 goal to nil by half time.
The game saw great defensive work by the Tigers, Heidi Pashen and Lina Whyte played fantastic games, but it was the Diamonds who ran away with the game in the fourth quarter 6 goals to nil, Alysha Hughes and Kyah Francis were best for the Diamonds.
The Mossman Gladiators played the Saints in a great game with all players putting in strong performances on court.
The Gladiators were 2 goals to nil by half time, but the Saints fought back to score a goal at three quarter time to trail by a single goal.
The Gladiators ran away with the game in the last quarter scoring 3 goals to bring the final score to Gladiators 5 def. Saints 1.
Best for the Gladiators were Georgia McCarthy and Jasmine Kirk and for the Saints, Keeley Harold and Myah Lowenstein-Jones.
The Under 12s Sparks played the Crocs, and the Sparks were not on the ball scoring just 1 goal for the game. Denby Woods played well for 4 quarters as did Cartier Bennett for the Sparks, but the Crocs were dominant with Lauren Radcliffe and Phoenix Scott-Spackman named best for the game.
Final scores were Crocs 23 def. Sparks 1.
Panthers played Mossman Magic, and the Magic team came out to play with Breeana Fordham and Casilda Creek playing well throughout the game.
First season player Robyn Bruenig for the Panthers intercepted well and Savaanah Scott was excellent in attack.
Final score Mossman Magic 17 def. Panthers 2.
Miallo 1 played the Allstars, and Miallo, minus Lana Baxter, put in a great and fiercely contested game,.
Maddie Malone played great in centre and Saischa Schonenberger was excellent in defence for Miallo 1. Thanks to Kyah Francis for playing up from under 10s.
The Allstars shot 3 early goals in the first quarter.
Poppy Lawrence played well in centre and wing defence and Liana Pelegrinet continued to find space on the court to carry to ball down toward goal. Final score Allstars 6 def. Miallo 1 4.
The Violet Vipers played the Under 12 Rep. squad and the Under 12s shot 2 early goals in the first quarter and kept the Vipers to nil for 3 quarters.
For the Under 12s Jade Schuck positioned herself well around goals showing great skills in her game and Mikeala Goodwin did a fantastic job in goal defence. If the Vipers missed the goal she was always there to take the rebound.
The Vipers shot 3 late goals in the last quarter to steal the game by 1 goal, Akasha Francis put in a great centre and Molly Delaney played an excellent game.
Final score Vipers 3 def. Under 12 Rep. 2.
The Judamalies played the Dynamite with the Judamalies shooting 6 goals to 4 in the first quarter. Kloee Revel played well in attack and Dakota Bowen was great in goal defence while for the Dynamites Bronte Lowenstein-Jones shot well for goal and Brydie Tregea was great in defence.
Final score Dyanmite 19 def. Judamalies 12.
This weekend Douglas Netball has 11 teams taking part in the Marlin Coast Fowler's Group Regional Club Carnival, held at the Cairns Netball Association in Martyn Street. This event has 55 teams nominated from all over the region in Under 11s up to 3 senior divisions playing off over 2 days. There will be 180 games played over this weekend.
Good Luck to the Douglas teams, lets hope we can bring home a trophy or two and that the players have a great time.
