Junior Dragon's fire in Cairns

Under 9’s

Eurotech Douglas Dragons Under 9’s played in Cairns on Saturday and were put to the test by a strong Leichardt team.

The Dragons started well enough going 1-0 up with a neat goal by Charlie Dowling but then they decided to make hard work of it. A lack of concentration and some poor tackling handed the Loins two soft goals and by half-time the Dragons were losing 2-1.

After a half-time discussion the boys came out stronger and picked up the pace. Jack Carr scored a fine solo goal making it 2-2. Five minutes later Mitch Ralston fired a thunderbolt into the bottom corner making it 3-2 giving the boys another boost of confidence. Bailey Morrison and Lockie Weyand started dominating the midfield and Charlie Dowling skipped through to score his second and the Dragons fourth. Douglas were on top now and two more well taken goals by Jack Carr in the last five minutes saw the mighty Dragons finish the game as 6-2 winners.

Under 11's

The Gazette U11 Dragons once more travelled to Endeavour Park to show their wares.  Another great display of passionate football from the entire squad.

The midfield bustled with Winnie Heatly impressive as always.  The back three repelled many raids.  Player of the match Josh D’arcy returned from a lay-off with a dominant display at left-back.  Curtis White and Mitch Budge were awesome in goal.
