Arthouse has a new art house

Arthouse Port Douglas opened it's new Studio last Wednesday evening May 4th at 6pm located at the Bally Hooley Railway Station alongside the Meridien Marina in Wharf Street.

The new studio is suitably named Station Studio and has been generously donated to the artistic group by long time local John Morris.

Members of the Port Douglas Arthouse took it over last year and have done a great job of refurbishing it to be both a comfortable studio where classes can be held and excan ellent venue for exhibitions.

Wendy Morris represented her father at the official opening celebration and said that she and her father were delighted that the station space could help re-enliven the Arthouse Group to ensure tuition could get back on the agenda for beginners right through all levels of artistic abilities and activities.

The Arthouse is organising a wide range of classes including photography for all ability levels, drawing, water colours and acrylics with plenty more categories at the planning stage.

New Group President, Cheryl Welham has brought a fresh energy to the Arthouse and in association with her new committee and plenty of communication with the members it would appear that this energy is infectious with well over 40 people attending the opening for drinks and nibbles and entertainment by the superb Trewick family string quartet to celebrate the start of the new era.
