Cairns secures national tourism awards

 

In 2012 the best and brightest of Australia’s tourism businesses will come to Cairns for the 27th Australian Tourism Awards.

The event is the Australian tourism industry’s biggest and most prestigious event of the year where finalists from every state and territory compete.

CEO of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Rob Giason said securing the event highlighted the ability of Cairns  to host major events.

“Cairns and the Tropical North has a big reputation in the national awards. Our region’s operators have been winners on the national stage for many years which confirms the region’s consistent quality service from stunning tourism product. We are elated to be hosting next year’s Australian Tourism Awards in Cairns.

“This exciting announcement is an endorsement of Cairns’ business events capabilities. It highlights the excellence of local tourism product, infrastructure and facilities especially the outstanding achievements of the multi-award winning Cairns Convention Centre. Cairns is a world class destination and we are looking forward to demonstrating that when we host the Australian Tourism Awards in 2012.

National Tourism Alliance Chairman, Col Hughes congratulated Tropical North Queensland on the success of their bid to host the national awards

Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours took out two awards for best tourist attraction and best adventure tourism at the Australian Tourism Awards in Perth last Friday.
