$2m Extra Tourism Funding Welcomed

According to a media release from his office, Federal Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch today welcomed the announcement of an extra $2 million in tourism funding for Queensland by Minister for Tourism Martin Ferguson.

Mr Entsch said he was delighted that his recent meeting in Canberra with the Minister for Tourism to push for more funding for the industry had paid off.

“I am glad that the Minister took my concerns and those of the tourism industry on board, he was very receptive in my meeting with him and I would like to publicly thank him for finally listening to our pleas for support of the industry,” said Mr Entsch.

Warren Entsch says while he welcomes the announcement with open arms he would like to reiterate to the Federal Government that much more needs to be done in terms of infrastructure spending for the Far Northern region.

“$2 million spread throughout the entire state of Queensland for tourism marketing is a drop in the ocean as to what is required for our region. It is a great start and it will assist us greatly in getting more people to our piece of paradise, but I look forward to having more detailed discussions with both Martin Ferguson and Simon Crean to progress large scale projects in our region forward,” he said.
