Party with The Upsteppers at Kuranda

The Upsteppers are sure to bring the party to their performance when they join the already mega-impressive line-up at this year’s Kuranda Roots Festival.  Hailing from Brisbane this roots-heavy, power-driven outfit is guaranteed to get the floor shaking.

The Upsteppers encompass a big band arrangement with a roots and rhythm feel delivered with distinctive energy. The band features guitars, keyboards, a three-piece horn section and, deep rhythms all supported by smooth and pure vocals.

Their dub/reggae music has had regular spins on Triple J’s 'Roots ‘n’ All' program, broadcast nationally. The Upsteppers are exploring new territory in 2011 and Kuranda Roots Festival is sure to get a taste of what they have to offer in a live setting.

They are thought to be one of the leading Australian acts when it comes to this increasingly popular genre of music and their ability to sell out shows across Queensland is testament to this.

In addition to selling out shows and creating distinctively sounding releases the band have performed alongside some great Reggae talents such as Jamaica’s Chaka Demus & Pliers and Jah Mason. They’ve also played with USA’s Groundation, New Zealand’s Katchafire and Black Seeds as well as Australia’s very own Kingtide.

The Upsteppers seem to be turning a lot of heads but see for yourself when they take the stage at this year’s Kuranda Roots Festival where they’ll bring their own jungle element to the scene.

Kuranda Roots Festival is held at Kuranda Amphitheatre on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 July.
