Moonlight Cinema program launched

The line up of movies at the new Moonlight Cinema at Rydges Sabaya has been announced with the first flicks hitting the giant screen from 1 July.

Moonlight Cinema’s Event Director Simon Bogle said this is the first time Moonlight has left the city limits behind, branching out beyond its metropolitan heartlands of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

“We are looking forward to screening all the latest and greatest movies in Port Douglas during what is traditionally our off season in the southern capitals.”

“Moonlight Cinema’s Port Douglas film program will be a mix of new release, 3D, classic and cult films, with an emphasis on new and recent release titles and family films during school holidays,” Mr Bogle said.

The executive officer of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree, Doug Ryan says Moonlight Cinema is a welcome addition to Port Douglas and its overall visitor experience.

“While our list of day time activities is expansive, the evenings are often limited to dining out. What Moonlight Cinema offers is another great option for families who can enjoy the magic of outdoor cinema under a tropical, starlit sky,” he said.

The inaugural season runs from 1 July to 2 October 2011 with screenings four nights a week, Thursday to Sunday. Gates open at 6.30pm with screenings around 7.30pm.
