Mackay stars in Douglas Netball

Central Cougars 31 def. Rattle N Hum 13

The Central Cougars came out on court and stood their ground to hold their number one position on the ladder and stay undefeated for the season.

Second placed Rattle N Hum were looking to take down the Cougars and be responsible for their first loss, however, things went the Cougars way.

The team dominated all four quarters of the match only allowing Rattle 3 goals in the first half of the game. Best and fairest player of the match was awarded to Michelle Pitt and Nichelle Pitt from the Central Cougars for their efforts in shooting and defence.

Young Guns 38 def. Crocs 13

The Young Guns technically won this week by forfeit but a game was still played for the fun and experience gained. With shooter Cloe Oui back after a few weeks break the attack end of the Guns side was strong and unstoppable.

The Crocs could not get any goals in the first quarter due to the great defence skills of Chenoa Ryan, for which she was awarded the games best and fairest player award. Due to their win, the Young Guns are once again tied on second position with Rattle N Hum.

Blood Orange 22 def. Pink Panthers 19

A tight game between these two teams was a result of both teams giving it their all. At half time the Panthers found themselves in the game by one goal however, by the end of the third they were sitting behind.

The one point lead gave Blood Orange the extra motivation to take the fourth quarter by two goals and win the game by three. Best and fairest of the match was awarded to Blood Orange's goal defence, Kirsty Mackay who had a great impact on the game.

Julatten Jewels 40 def. Sugarland Shooters 19

The Jewels hit the court this week without some of their key players but proved they could do just as well without them, winning by an impressive 21 goals.

The Jewels had total control over the mid court resulting in many intercepts that were all converted into goals. Their hard training has paid off as they are now able to read the passage of play and get to the ball before their opponent.

The Shooters also showed a great display of defence but were unable to convert as many gaols as they may have liked. Best and fairest was awarded to Kayla Crookey from the Julatten Jewels for her amazing effort in Goal shooter.

Bad Habitats 20 def. Breakers 5

The Bad Habitats achieved their first win of the season this week against the Breakers with a great win of 15 goals. The Breakers defence played a great game preventing more than 30 goals that the Habitats could have scored but their shooters didn’t back them up on the score board.

The best and fairest player award was given to Clare Anderson from the Bad Habitats for her great attack and defence in the centre position.

Jets 17 def. U-14 Rep Team 15

With both the Jets and Rep Team having a great season, Tuesday night's game between the two was great to watch. The score line kept varying between teams and it was anyone's game right until the end.

With a final score difference of just two goals, both teams should be very proud of their efforts. Best and fairest was awarded to Eleisha M from the U-14 Rep Team for her great defence on the wing.

A special congratulations to Blood Orange player Kirsty Mackay who has won this weeks player of the round! Kirsty played an outstanding game in defence this week and has won herself one night accommodation at the Mt. Carbine Hotel Motel.
