Fantastic Family Fun Day in Mowbray Street

The Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre in Mowbray Sreet hosted their yet another successful fund raising family fun day. The weather played its part keeping the sun shining all day.

Councillor Julia Leu, welcomed everyone to the fun day and hoped that everyone would have a go on everything and have a great time.

Indeed there was plenty to enjoy.  The Australian Muster Experience (AME) had their petting zoo and The Wildlife Habitat displayed a range of reptiles.  The kids tennis was a great success.  The jumping castle was constantly in demand as was the excellent sausage sizzle, which also served up some scrummy looking Burgers.

Whilst the kids were having their faces painted it gave the Mums a chance for a cup of Devonshire tea.   The gymnastics display by the Mossman and Districts Gymnastics Association and the dance demonstration by Nelle's Dance Academy drew big crowds.

But most of the crowds missed the monster meeting between LJHooker's Hooker the Bear and The Hogsbreath Pig. The clash of flourescent pink and brown was a violent assault on the eyes but fortunately both mascots are just big softees and everything ended in big hugs all round

The Fire Brigade also had their famous squirt car in attendance taking car loads of kids around the paddock.  There was even a horse and cart ride to enjoy.

The SES representatives were in close attendance but their special emergency services weren't required on the day except to promote their brilliant work.

Local band 'Greened Out' played live from the back of a big flatbed truck and had the crowd rocking all day.

Organisers Deb Delaney and Belinda Goddard reported a slightly higher turnout on last year for this vital fund raising day and the crowds built steadily to enjoy all the fun of the fair on offer.
