Dalai Lama visit a blessing
Federal Member for Leichhardt, Warren Entsch MP, and his Senior Media Adviser, Danae Jones, met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Parliament House last week.
It was not Mr Entsch’s first time to have met the Dalai Lama being on the Parliamentary Group for Human Rights in Tibet, but it was Mrs Jones’ first time meeting him and it is sure to be a meeting she will never forget.
The Federal Member asked His Holiness if he wouldn’t mind blessing Mrs Jones’ unborn child so that when the child is born it will be “calm in spirit”.
The Dalai Lama was very happy to oblige and placed the back of his hand on her pregnant belly and proceeded to bless the baby in front of the entire parliamentary reception in Canberra.
"There are not too many children that could lay claim to being blessed by His Holiness while still in their mother’s belly!” Mr Entsch said.
Mrs Jones has admired the Dalai Lama since she was a little girl.
“I was elated to get to meet the Dalai Lama let alone have him bless my belly. It was an amazing experience and one I will take pleasure in telling my child when he or she is born.”
The Dalai Lama has been living in exile for over 50 years since the Chinese invasion of Tibet, and travels extensively around the world spreading the message of peace and tolerance and is seeking greater autonomy, as opposed to independence, for his homeland.
