Big Country comes to Glengarry Music Muster
Last year organisers Margaret, her friends call her Margy, and Max Brady held a small outdoor music event presenting a few local country artists with the gorgeous “Sunny Cowgirls” headlining.
This first year was primarily designed to present a little bit of 'live' entertainment for their park visitors/tennants. It was so well received by those lucky enough to attend that the idea was born.
So, for 2011, Max and Margy decided to combine their passion for country music together with the beauty of their setting overlooking the Mowbray Valley to promote both their holiday park and offer their holiday visitors a very special musical experience whilst they enjoyed their stay.
This year, from the feedback they received from the first event, they realised that the locals, who can't always get away during the busy season, would love the opportunity to see a host of top country music artists right in their own backyard. So often the only option available to see acts of this quality is to travel miles either up onto the Tablelands or down the highway to Cairns.
Max and Margy have gone all out to put together an impressive line up of performers for this, their second Glengarry Music Muster. 2011 is certainly going to be a 'big country' presentation.
The show will hit the floor running at 4:00pm with “The Blowflyz” who are guaranteed to 'take no prisoners' as they present their unique Anglo Celtic inspired bush rock and country music.
They will be followed by up and coming Cairns singing sensation “Nikki Jenson”. Max and Margy have also managed to acquire the talents of the very young but hugely talented 12 yr old Karrie Hayward all the way from Mackay performing a few songs in between the other country artists as their sound and equipment checks are organised.
Another crowd favourite you would be well advised not to miss is Adam Kilpatrick, who is renowned for his fun tongue-in-cheek song lyrics.
The day reaches it's climax with the first of the two headline acts, Australian Multi Award Winning Country star, Adam Harvey will entertain the crowds with his own inimitable country style.
Adam will be followed by the welcome return visit of last years stars, the much loved and gorgeous “Sunny Cowgirls” to bring a smile to all our faces.
The “Blowflyz” then come back to finish the night off with everyone once again dancing and singing to their irresistible rhythms.
When the evening finally does have to come to an end there are complimentry buses for those not staying the night to make sure everyone gets safely back to Mossman or Port Douglas.
Of course you are more than welcome to stay the night with your swags/cars,tents or vans but if you require a powered or unpowered site you will need to book ahead of time as space is limited.
This is an outdoor event so please Bring a Chair and/or blanket to lay out on the grass.
There will be Food, Soft Drinks and Alcohol for sale. (No BYO Alcohol Allowed). There is a cash bar and with all profits from the bar going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Max and Margy hope that a responsibly thirsty crowd will take full advantage of the facilities.
The Next morning the organisers are having the “Big Bacon & Egg Breakfast” with some light entertainment t ease you back into the weekend.
Glengarry Holiday Park is a sprawling 15 acres of Tropically Landscaped Grounds, offering First Class Facilities with Two Amenities, Two camp Kitchens, Laundries, Lagoon Style Pool, TV room and Tour Desk facilities. It is located in Craiglie just off the Captain Cook Highway 3km South of Port Douglas turn-off, on Mowbray River Rd, 600m off the highway.
