Addison, Freeman blitz in Mossman golf

With club championships beginning on Saturday the golfers have been out in force trying to fine tune their game before the biggest event of the year.

Ralf Middel was solid on Tuesday winning division one with 37 after a count back to Geoff Parmenter. Russell Hooker hit top gear scoring 43 points to win division two ahead of Wayne Dowell on 39 points. Jock O’Kane won nearest the pin on 6 and 17, John Cameron on 8, Dave Nesbitt on 10 and Bill Heath on 13.

Broz Jurie won the Wednesday nine hole competition with 24 points ahead of Casey Dunne on 21 points. Brett Jurie won nearest the pins on 10 and 17 while Casey won 13.

The Thursday ladies played their monthly medal for June last week with Trevene Page leading the way with nett 71. Gayle Healey was second with nett 74. Nearest the pins were Lucy Giles on 6, Narelle Johnson on 8, Glenda Christensen on 10 and Shona Barbour on 13.

Saturday’s monthly medal for June saw plenty of hot scoring with Dave Addison blitzing the course with a Nett 64 to win the men’s medal ahead of Rus Watkins on nett 66. Shane Heath won A Grade gross with 78, John Petherbridge won B Grade with 83 and Bernie Boon won C Grade with 89. Dennis Blake won the A Grade nett with 70, Wayne Dowell won B Grade with 70 and Duncan Cunningham won C Grade with 68. Brett Jurie won nearest the pin on 6, Ian (Chisel) McCormack on 8, Brian O’Connor on 10, Bill Everingham on 13 and John Cameron on 17.

Pris Freeman was the best of the ladies on Saturday also breaking into the sixties with a nett 68. Judy McCormack finished five shots back in second place with nett 73. Kim Edwards won nearest the pin on 6, Julie Hooker on 8, and Pris Freeman 13.
