Gabour cleans up in Mossman golf

Brian MacDonald started off the week in top form winning the men’s Tuesday competition with 43 points ahead of Barry Brims on 40.

H Conway won nearest the pin on 6, Cameron Walton on 8, Wayne Dowell on 10, Rick Herschell on 13 and M Norman on 17.

Ben Eagle broke through for his first ever competition win on Wednesday in the nine hole sporters scoring 22 points to win after a count back to Barry Rouse and Brett Jurie.


Ray Bennetts won nearest the pin on 6 and Ron Smith on 8.

Helen Gabour made the most of the small field cleaning up the prizes with a win for 36 points and both the nearest the pins on 6 and 13. Lucy Giles claimed second place with 33 points.

J Mitchell won the ladies Saturday competition after a fine round of nett 67. Patti Graham finished second and was the best of the local ladies winning the Monthly Medal with nett 71.

Judy McCormack won nearest the pins on 6 and 8 while Trish Middel won 13.

Bob Tyrrel won the Men’s Monthly Medal with 63, two shots ahead of Ralf Middel on 65. Charlie Kadic won the A Grade Gross with 79, Brian Delaney won B Grade with 80 and Kerry Johnstone won C Grade with 84.

Dennis Blake won the A Grade Nett with 70, Wayne Dowell won B Grade with 66 and J Mitchell won C Grade with 68.

Nearest the pins were Dave Nesbitt on 6, Charlie Kadic on 8, John Deuble on 10, John Cameron on 13 and Mick Lancaster on 17.

On Sunday Geoff Goodwin hit top form winning with 39 ahead of Joe Wild on 35 points. Geoff Goodwin also won nearest the pin on 13 while Art Howard picked up 6 and 8.
