One of the youngest owner chefs in the Port Douglas and Mossman area, 21 yr old Danielle Robinson, is justifiably celebrating her first 6 months of business as d's Steakhouse.
She launched the restaurant, situated at 3 Junction Road in Mossman, on 14th December 2010.
Danielle is a pure bred Queenslander being born in Brisbane and raised on the Sunshine Coast. She moved up to Mossman and qualified as a chef over 2 years at one of Ports best 'fine dining restaurants' under the tutelage of local legend Steve Ritchie.
Her enthusiasm and passion for her craft is now impressing locals and visitors alike with her flair for presenting the most mouth watering and creative gourmet dishes.
Although predominantly a steakhouse as its name suggests, the menu offers a variety of mains, sides and entrée’s including whole barramundi, chicken, pork and pasta alternatives with a daily specials.
Danielle says, "We pride ourselves on our home made sauces and dressings and our delicious home made deserts. Our gourmet menu is what you’d find at a fine dining establishment, but at country prices".
The staff and decor combine well to create a very warm, simple and welcoming atmosphere. There is a children’s menu for early diners.
To help fast track and reward her regular clientele Danielle has designed a 'Locals Loyalty Card', which entitles the holder to a free main meal after they or anyone who mentions their name have been in for dinner 10 times.
The restaurant is fully licensed. The wine list is small but very affordable and perfectly complements the current menu.
If you arrive early or need to wait for any of your party, you'll be able to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the well appointed bar area. And with the open plan kitchen area you can even watch Danielle weaving her culinary magic to ensure your wait is worth every moment!
In fact the bar has a charm about it that maybe when your appetite has been satisfied you'll find yourself back there enjoying a post dinner nightcap while you await your carriages!
The restaurant is also available for functions and set menus are catered for upon request.
Danielle has a driving passion for gourmet cuisine and despite her young age she has set both herself and her restaurant some mighty tough goals. She says she won't rest until she has created a restaurant that everyone 'raves' about!
The first six months seems to have flown by and according to Elle, Danielle’s waitress who has been with her from day one, she has worked at a number of newly opened restaurants, and none ever went without a hiccup like d’s has. She is still awaiting a complaint but after 6 months, she hasn't had one! And if there was a problem, you can be sure that she and Danielle would have it put right in seconds.
They are determined to become one of the best gourmet dining experiences in North Queensland.
