Competition fierce in netball's return
by Gemma Gwilliams
Having two weeks off from netball didn’t seem to faze the teams too much as the competition was still fighting fierce Tuesday night.
In the A-Grade Pink Panthers drew with Julatten Jewels.
Jewels were down a player yet provided tough competition for their opponents with he final score tied at 27-27. Tiani Pascoe received the Best & Fairest Award.
Cougars definitely came ready to play Tuesday night as they won against Sugarland Shooters. Another win for the Cougars shows that they mean business and are on the way to sealing the deal on winning the minor premiership.
The final score was 65-10 with Cougars player Cassandra Cairns winning Best & Fairest.
Rattle ‘N’ Hum again had another win over the Crocs this week with the final score of 27-14.
Rattle are currently in second position and will be looking to defend their premiership title as we get closer to the end of the season. Megan Pooley won herself the Best & Fairest for this game.
A close game between Blood Orange and Young Guns ended with Blood Orange gaining top position with a 33-32 win. Blood Orange had one player down whilst Young Guns played with players from their younger B Grade team.
Angela Pringle and Hazuki Kirby deserve a special mention as they stepped up to play their first game in A Grade and played beyond their years. Sami Smith from Blood Orange finished with the Best & Fairest award for her solid shooting efforts, leading her team to victory.
In the B-Grade, the U/14 Rep team prove to be a finals favourite as they had another win this week against Bad Habitat, placing them in second position on the ladder. Natalie Littler won the Best & Fairest for her team.
Jets this week showed that they deserve to be placed first on the ladder as they had a win this week over Breakers.
The final score was 31-16, with Zara Ryan from Breakers picking up the Best & Fairest award.
There will be a club meeting next Tuesday at 7:30pm and two members from each team MUST attend.
