Floodstock a big day out
According to Floodstock organiser, Gregg Buchanan, over 500 people packed into the Port Douglas Yacht Club to see some of the region's finest musicians.
So eager were people to support the event, dozens of people arrived well before the 2pm start time (a very non-Port like thing to do) ensuring every act played to a large, and fully appreciative audience.
And the result - another $15,000 heading from Port Douglas to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal.
"It was brilliant. Everything ran really well, the muso's played really well and everyone had a great time," said Mr Buchanan. "$15,000 is pretty good I reckon."
Mr Buchanan said the event was a culmination of the efforts of a number of people.
"There are so many people to thank, but first up would have to be all the musicians who gave their time and played so well. Hats off to, Los Caracoles, Stu Forbes, The Distractions, The Gusman, Tonic, Kim Hurley, The Walker Bros. The Antipodylans, and of course The Ukenator.
"Thanks also to the Yacht Club who supplied the venue, and donated all their profits from the bar (over $6,000). Especially to Richard and all his helpers there who did a great job setting up the big marquee and running the bar, and the fine job done by Matt and Simon and the kitchen staff who donated $1,000."
Mr Buchanan was also quick to thank Larry Cash on sound and the vast number of businesses who supported the event.
