Half a million dollars for FNQ tourism

A $530,000 national tourism campaign to attract people to Tropical North Queensland was announced on Wednesday.

The campaign, in partnership with Jetstar and supported by Tourism Tropical North Queensland, will hit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from mid-March.

The multi-media campaign will focus on short-term sales and regaining visitor confidence by spreading the message to book a holiday – next week, next month or sometime soon.

"(It's) a very targeted, very aggressive campaign. . .it'll all be about FNQ," said Premier Anna Bligh.

"The $500,000 is just a one-off quick, tactical campaign to get as many bookings as we can into FNQ," she said.

Southerners will see images of the Tropical North on buses and trams and on the Tropical Holidays website from 13 March.

The campaign launches Tropical North Queensland’s new brand ‘Adventurous By Nature’ to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane consumers and reminds holidaymakers that the tropics is the perfect place for their next getaway.
