Taipans visit Mossman
Wednesday night saw the end of the Junior Mossman Basketball season with a visit from the Cairns Taipans' development players.
Dwayne Vale, along with James Comino and Matthew Adekponya (pictured) took around 40 kids through some drills which involved basic skills and some fun stuff to finish the season on a high.
Dwayne has NBL experience with the Taipans, and both James and Matt are in the training squad and hope to one day make their marks as NBL players.
Their experience was very valuable for our kids.
All the young playing crew received a trophy for their efforts throughout the two terms and head coach, Steve Hull (along with other coaches Chris Blan, Kraig Byrne, Nick Gibson and Dougy and Anthea Crees), were happy to extend the ‘Coaches Encouragement Awards’ to four determined kids.
Trent Day, Mitchell Hoye, Cian Danskin and Jasmin Faichney were well deserved winners this year and we hope these four and all the other kids blossom into fine young players.
If you would like your child to get involved in this exciting sport please contact club President, Kraig Byrne, on 0437 088 007 for next season.
The Taipans are very true to their word about being a ‘community’ sporting franchise and we all appreciate the ease and professionalism they show when contacted, and showing up to help the grass roots of basketball.
So if you’re a basketball lover (or sports lover), grab the kids and go and check out the next Taipans' home game – it’s worth it!
