Police bites

Police have praised locals and visitors after an unusually quiet weekend which saw no arrests in either Mossman or Port Douglas.

However, a police crackdown on speeding, drink driving, no seat belts, and mobile phone use while driving will remain in force over the Christmas period.

Acting Sergeant at the Port Douglas police station said it has been the quietest weekend since he started in Port Douglas.

Detective Sergeant and Officer In Charge at Mossman CIB, Trevor Perham, also said no incidents had been reported in the last few days.
