McPherson wins Medal of Medals
On Saturday this year’s monthly medal qualifiers played off in the Medal of Medals. Des McPherson won the men’s with a brilliant round of nett 68 to edge out Wayne Baxter by a shot.
Bill Heath won the daily competition with a nett 68 after count backs to Jeff Bochow and Des McPherson. Dave Budge won nearest the pin on 6, Wayne Baxter on 8, Bill Heath on 10, Geoff Parmenter on 13 and John Cameron on 17.
Shona Barbour was the best of the ladies scoring nett 71 to win the Medal of Medals along with the daily competition. Shona finished a shot clear of Patti Graham on 72 and Trish Cavanagh was third with 75.
Shona also won nearest the pin on 6, Jenny Rowell won 8, Bev Cowe won 10 and Kiara Lomas won 13.
Earlier last week John Cameron won the Tuesday men’s Stableford competition with 39 points after a count back to Geoff Parmenter. Dan Hober was third with 38 points.
Nearest the pins were won by Ralf Middel on 6 and 10, Geoff Parmenter on 13 and Ian Steley on 8 and 17.
Maurice Meth was too good on Wednesday winning with 23 points around the front nine. Dennis Blake finished second with 22 points after a count back to Bob Laybutt. Dennis also won nearest the pin on 6.
The Thursday ladies played their final monthly medal for the year last week ahead of the Medal of Medals this Thursday.
Patti Graham won with nett 70 ahead of Shirley Carney on nett 74. Trish Landy won nearest the pin on 6, Shona Barbour on 8 and Lyn Heimann on 13. Trish Landy won the putting comp with 26.
