And the winner is…

November was another incredible month for highlighting the beauty of our region and the people who live here, thanks to the talented group of photographers who have entered into The Newsport's Best Photo Competition.

Entries came under the scrutiny of Catseye Productions' Ali George, Image Bank Australia's Perrin Clarke, and The Newsport editor, Mathew Churchill, but one stood out above all to claim top honours.

Jascha Gusmeroli's 'Port Inlet' was a stunning entry earning Jascha a $100 Garrick's Camera House voucher PLUS $50 cash. I'm sure you'll all agree that Jascha's photographs have a sharpness, colour, and sense of space that makes them a pleasure to view as an observer, but a formidable force in the competition.

In second place was Tod Walker's 'Majestic Mossman' which will hang nicely on his wall thanks to Perrin's Image Bank Australia who will mount the image on a stretched canvas. This prize is valued at $75.

The third place winner is an image which captured our attention; the thoughtful 'Graveyard Prayer' by Jeremy Lebeuf. Jeremy will collect a lovely bottle of wine for his efforts.

With the return to a shortlist and poll to decide the Most Popular Photo, it was a clear cut victory to Tod Walker for his 'Majestic Mossman' image. Tod's 'Cruisy Reef Days' also polled strongly so he'll have a tough timing choosing  a friend to take to AME's adrenalin pumping Jungle Ball.

Brendon Wright's 'Lion face in a orchid flower also deserves a mention with many people choosing his unique image as their shot of the month.

Prize winners can call Mathew Churchill on 4099 5122 to arrange collection.

As always, a hearty thanks to all of you who submitted photos in November. It's a pleasure to see the variety that comes flowing from your cameras. We also love seeing familiar names just as much as new names entering the competition which, as we keep saying, is your gallery as much as it is a competition.

With Christmas coming up we understand it's a busy time of year, but entries are being accepted for December's Best Photo Competition with more fantastic prizes up for grabs.
