Accor to take over Sea Temple

Hotel group Accor has added Mirvac properties to its portfolio after purchasing the chain for $255 million in a deal expected to be finalised by the end of June.

The acquisition will mean Sea Temple Resort and Spa Port Douglas will be included on the Accor list of hotels and resorts which includes brands such as Sofitel, Mercure, Ibis, and Novotel.

Sea Temple's general manager, Kelvin Dodt, was positive about the move despite having received little communication to date.

"It's too early to comment as staff have just been informed. There has been no direction from head office as yet.

"I would imagine we'll get more information in the new year, (but) I think it will be a pretty positive experience for the hotel. It can only be a good thing," Mr Dodt said.
