U8 Crocs too slick for Souths

For the final two games of the year, the Crocs' Under 8s assembled its strongest squad of the year.

After being taught a footballing lesson by Souths Red only weeks previously and managing to score just one solitary goal against them, the Crocs came out determined to show Souths that they could play up to their very high standard.

In the first of the two grand final games against Souths the Crocs put up a gallant effort and matched Souths in almost all departments.  Cameron Nyko was rewarded for his non-stop, get in there and get it attitude, kicking 3 goals, and was ably supported with goals to Geneva Gilbert (2) and Ethan Bakker (1).

In the second game the Crocs excelled with great energy, well directed hand passes, clean marks and accurate kicking - the Crocs not only matched Souths but outperformed them.

Every Croc player from the defensive line to the centre performed well, in particular Sammy Wall, Dean Laurence and Daniel Harrington who out muscled their opponents and shared the ball around which gave the forwards every opportunity.

A very determined Geneva Gilbert kicked 4 fantastic goals in the final half of the game after the very busy Scotty Cooper kicked the Croc’s first, a pearler from an acute angle.

To top off a memorable game Jae Mitchell added  his name to the list of goalkickers.

Coach Brad Cooper was full of praise for his young charges and congratulated them on their great team performance.  The final Maccas awards of 2011 went to Harry Walker and Jake Sherwell whilst Scotty Cooper was awarded the Foodworks voucher.

Special thanks go to Tina Harrington for making the grand final banners which not only looked great but set the tone for a great final match to 2011.
