Touch rugby returns to Port

Mixed touch rugby looks set to make a return to Port Douglas this wet season after a four year hiatus.

The competition was an incredibly popular social and fitness event over the wet season when it was in its heyday in Port Douglas, with many competitors calling for a return of the friendly competition.

Organiser, Adrian Bannerman, said games will be played at the Raiders ground at Port Douglas Sports Complex at 6pm on Monday evenings and called for players to sign up.

“We are aiming for 10 teams this year, and there must be two females per side,” Adrian said.

“That’s only 100 people required to make this competition work and it’s a great social event each week.

“We may even have an over 40s side.”

Adrian said six teams had already registered for the Monday, September 12, start to the season. Cost is $25 per team.
