Ellis Beach hosted an exciting Surf Life Saving carnival in beautiful weather over the weekend.  Both mornings started with calm conditions but the wind and dumping shore break picked up in the afternoon to add some thrills to the proceedings.

Two new events featured in the carnival – the 500m Beach Run in which Port Douglas claimed twelve point scoring places in the eight age groups they contested, and the Under 11-14’s Wade Relay where Port Douglas came home a strong third.
