Master opens for Clapton

Our very own Omid Matster will be performing at Tanks Arts Centre tonight, supporting Australian music legend, Richard Clapton.

Clapton, who performed the hit song 'Girls on the avenue', has been working in the music industry since the 1970s and is currently on a tour of the East Coast.

Master has also been busy of late with plenty of dates booked locally.

"I've been doing alot of gigs which is good, up at PK's and I've been doing alot of corporate stuff," he said.

Master has recently joined forces with local musicians, Peter Przwara (keyboard) and Michael Grixty (drums), and has seen his music style take a new direction.

"I'm sick of playing solo, I love playing with others and it adds a whole new dimension to my sound. I'm going to be recording with these guys too because the sound is completely new.

He admits to having some butterflies in the lead up to tonights gig with Clapton.

"I've been a fan of his so it'll be good to go and talk to him. I'm a bit nervous about the whole idea."

Tickets to the show are $40 ($35 concession), and doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start time in Tank 5.

You can also catch Omid Master at PK's at Cape Tribulation on 9 September, and keep your ear to the ground to hear some exciting new sounds from Master in the not too distant future.
