Junior Crocs feature in finals

Under 8s

Sunday saw the under-8s Crocs take on Cairns Hawks Brown at the home of Cairns AFL, Cazaly’s Stadium.

Down in player numbers again, the Crocs were outgunned by the might and skill of the Hawks, the Hawks doing to the Crocs what the Crocs did to the Cutters the previous weekend.

The Hawks were stronger all around the ground, with their confidence high, and overpowered a determined Crocs team and unfortunately the Crocs could not repeat the same team play which had given them their earlier results.

Although Scotty Cooper scored the Crocs’ only goal, it must be said that the Hawks’ great goal line defence thwarted numerous other Croc chances.

As with the final series, no player of the day medal was awarded, however Coach Cooper awarded 'up and coming players' Sammy Wall and Daniel Harrington with the Macca Awards while Scotty Cooper was awarded the Foodworks Voucher.

There will be no training this Thursday, but next Sunday's game will be played at Fretwell Park.

Under 10s
The first week of the finals saw the Crocs under-10s up against Cairns Saints, also at Cazaly's.

The game was evenly matched with Saints getting the ball forward only for our backs Jack, Daniel and Toby to gain a lot of possessions. With smart ball movement to the midfield, the Crocs managed to put pressure back on Saints.

Reuben totally dominated the centre as did Ryan up forward, and with a big effort from Leon, Jacob and Casey, the Crocs goals started to come.

Anthony dived everywhere to take marks, Tyson got in front to give his teammates a target and what in was a great first up final, the boys are primed to finish of the last two games of 2011.

Goal kickers were Jack Harrington with two goals, while Ryan Bourguignon, Daniel Davidson, Casey West and Leon Wren all kicked one each.

The award winners were Anthony Long, Leon Wren and Casey West.
