Holloway "stumbles" to a 61

It was monthly medal time again as we slipped into August last week.

Phil Holloway was on track for the magic “59” but stumbled on the final hole to finish with nett 61 to win the Tuesday men’s monthly medal. Graham Muter took out division one with nett 67 ahead of Ian Steley on 73.

Tano Caltabiano scored a nett 68 and finished second in division two behind Holloway. Nearest the pins were Jon Axtens on 6, Warrick Bourguignon on 8, Bruce Cheesman on 10, Brett Jurie on 13 and John Caswell on 17.

Gayle Healey won the Thursday ladies monthly medal with a nett 71 ahead of S Prien on 73. Nearest the pins were Shona Barbour on 6, S Prien on 13 and Helen Gabour on 8 and 10.

Scoring proved a little tougher on Saturday with only a handful of players breaking into the 60’s. Damien Addison was the best of the men winning the medal with a nett 69 after a count back to John Ziegler. Charlie Kadic won the A Grade gross with 77, John Deuble won B Grade with 84 and Don Demler won C Grade with 91.

Brett Jurie won the A Grade nett with 70, Bill Heath won B Grade with 74 and Lloyd Redpath won C Grade with 70. Nearest the pins were Dennis Blake on 6, Jeff Bochow on 8, David Budge on 10, Russell Jeffrey on 13 and Art Howard on 17.

Tracey Benham won the ladies monthly medal on Saturday after carding a nett 72. Visitor H Burke won the ladies nett with 69 ahead of D Jobson on 70. Nearest the pins were Jenny Rowell on 6, Shona Barbour on 13 and Pris Freeman on 17. Pris Also won the putting comp with 26 putts.

The ladies dominated Sunday’s Stableford competition with Shona Barbour leading the way with 39 points after a count back to Lucy Giles. Art Howard won nearest the pin on 8 and Julie Hooker on 13.
