Diamonds and Dolphins go well at netball carnival

with Treveen Page - editor@thenewsport.com.au

Douglas Junior Netball sent two teams to represent the association to the Atherton Tablelands last Sunday.

Teams were limited due to the venue consisting of just two courts and was played over one day, with the Douglas Diamonds playing in the 10-under division and the Douglas Dolphins played in the 12-under division.

The 10/U competition saw six teams compete, and the Diamonds, coached by Jodi Francis, played fantastic netball over the day, losing their only game and last game by a goal on the final siren which giving them runners-up for the event.

The team played brilliant netball showing their ever-increasing skills learned at training and were able to bring the medals home, showing the juniors are growing from strength to strength.  Well done Diamonds!

The 12/U competition was tightly contested by eight teams, the Douglas Dolphins, minus a couple of their representative players put in a great effort over the day, thanks to Isabella Cattanach and Samaria Denman for making up the numbers and playing great netball.

The Dolphins finished equal third, a fantastic effort against some very tough competition. Great effort girls!

Thanks to the parents, coaches, team managers, scorers and players for travelling and participating in a great day.

The Douglas Junior Netball Carnival will be held on Sunday the 28th August, there will be approximately 40 teams playing in Netta, 10/U, 12/U, 14/U and 16/U competitions.

There will be a full canteen operating, raffles and a great day of junior netball to be enjoyed by all.

We are calling for volunteers to operate the canteen, score, umpire and set up - your help is very much appreciated.
