Blood, sweat, and many more years at expo
The health and wellbeing of locals and tourists alike was the theme of Tuesday’s Health and Wellbeing Expo at Mossman Community Centre.
The third annual expo, held as part of Cairns Regional Council’s Senior’s Week, had approximately 30 stalls packed into the centre, and attracted people of all ages and from all corners of the country.
Included in the day’s festivities was a salsa dancing lesson, Reiki healings, indigenous healings, free blood sugar and blood pressure checks, nutritional advice, local community craft groups, and yoga and fitness experts.
Guided hourly tours were also given at Douglas Arts Base, across the road from the community centre, as was the encouragement of how to be involved in the community via volunteering or just being a part of a group or association.
Ways of developing a sustainable society were outlined with Council’s interactive display, Hoop-La, giving tips on how to use less energy, buying locally, reducing, reusing and recycling, backyard biodiversity and water preservation.
