Port Douglas - Not Out

One of Queensland’s favourite sons, cricket legend Matthew Hayden, has visited Port Douglas as part of a road-trip of Queensland to showcase its unique natural wonders and expose the interesting characters that have made the state one of Australia’s favourite destinations for many years.

Known as 'Operation Sunshine', Hayden is traveling with a camera crew to communities from the Gold Coast to Port Douglas to meet local tourism operators, business owners and people to showcase the plight of the communities that have been severely impacted by recent events.

“The goal of Operation Sunshine is to assist and support the people of Queensland who are still enduring hardship personally and economically following the recent tragic events here,” said Hayden.

“Queensland is my ‘homeground’ and through Operation Sunshine we want to let Australia and the world know that Queensland is indeed open for business and is arguably one of the most unique tourism destinations and one of the greatest playgrounds in the world”.
