Funky Grooves at AJ Hackett Cairns
Locally based collective ‘The COCAW’ (The Coalition of the Conscious and Willing) proudly presents an evening of music, art & culture entitled ‘Future Moves’ at AJ Hacketts in Cairns with an aim to raise awareness and funding for environmental projects in the Far North Queensland region.
Gold Coast superstars ‘Tijuana Cartel’ return to AJ Hacketts in Cairns to headline a diverse lineup of live & electronic music on 6th May including local reggae/roots outfits ‘Zennith’, ‘Koahlition’ and ‘Reggae Bliss’ – with support from local downbeat electronic acts ‘Bent Intent’ and ‘Hekyll’.
You can expect an amazing array of visual treats in the ‘Beyond Parameters’ art exhibition, featuring local artists Jilli Manning, Kuba Friedowicz, Adam Scott Miller, Donna Raymond, Pira Melody, Pete Freimanis and Bonnie Cooper.
20% of all event profits will go toward a much needed regeneration project at Davies Creek in Din Din National Park. The project will be headed by the Bulwai tribal elder Willie Brim, focusing on eradicating lantana & various other pest species from sites of cultural & environmental significance.
'Future Moves' is a licensed 18+ event with 2 bars, two stages and a bus service operating throughout the evening. (at this stage, there will be 2 large coaches leaving AJ Hackett bound for Cairns CBD at midnight and hopefully there will get Kuranda buses as well. With the exemption of any Kuranda buses there won't be any public transport to the gig, however, Sunbus runs within 300m of AJ Hackett on their uni run.)
