Clipper Cup interest high

12 entries have been received by the Port Douglas Yacht Club for the Exemplar Clipper Cup with the latest coming from “Dusty Muzzle” from Townsville Yacht Club.

Rear Commodore for the Port Douglas Yacht Club, Mick Gwilliams said this latest entry may spark even greater interest from the Townsville region.

"We are very hopeful that this entry will lead to a few other Townsville boats making the effort to attend.

"There are still several confirmed starters yet to submit their entry from Port and Cairns so the numbers are looking good with six weeks still to go."

Mr Gwilliams urged local boat owners to take up the challenge and compete in the Exemplar Clipper Cup.

In other yachting news, the Closehaven Cup scheduled for last Saturday was postponed until 16 April due to the strong wind warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology.
