Before the week started, all the students from Mossman State School,  who had been lucky enough to be allocated work experience, must have had mixed feelings, just like me, about their first steps into the work place.

Would it be a week of horror, would we all survive and how many of us would pass?

Well now our 'work experience' week is over our parents, employers and even students can sleep easy again.

However, before we all disappear back into our classrooms, I promised I would find out what the students felt about work experience.  And I have, so here's the 'goss' on what students thought about their week.

The students mostly thought that the work experience was fun like Zoey ,who worked at the Mantra Resort.  She said, "I liked being treated like an adult, I think I would like to work there again."

Alexi who survived a week at Gary Hunt and Partners, Architects said that "it's been challenging but fun".

Most of the students learned 'loads of stuff', some learned important life lessons, like Ashton at Tript, who commented, "I learned to go outside of my comfort zone, and I understand how it will be when I'm older",  but William's hardest lesson from his week at Blaines Auto-repairs was, "man, getting up early is really hard".

Though the hardest wasn't getting up early for Peter again from Gary Hunt's architectual firm (you may remember him from last week).  He said, "there were times when I doubted that I would be able to comprehend the task at hand, but I've learned how to complete projects by changing my work ethic".

Students found that working isn't as easy as schoolwork, Eddie found out at the Port Douglas Radio Station (90.9FM and 107.1FM) that "it's hard to get used to everything needing to be done quickly, it's harder than school".

The week has been hard on all of us (my Editor here at Newsport Daily was especially hard on me) but now the students from Mossman State High School have a taste for the workforce, and they will be back.

"And my last thoughts, well, I enjoyed the week and I hope that one day soon I will be writing for you again, the Editor said my ban from his office isn't for life!".
