This wasn't in the brochure!

A group of passengers from the cruise ship, Dawn Princess, saw more of Port Douglas' famous beaches than they'd hoped for as their tender vessel ran aground after trying to exit Dixon's Inlet.

Witnesses said around 20 passengers abandoned ship and began the trek along the mangrove side of the inlet in the hope of rescue. Let's hope they were blissfully unaware of the reptilian locals who make the mangroves their home.

A rescue boat was being organised to tow the tender off the sand bank.
