The Northern Pride have won their maiden Queensland Cup Premiership after defeating Norths Devils 30-20 at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

The Pride lead from start to finish in what will be halfback Chris Sheppard's last game.

The win is the Pride's 12th in a row ending a remarkable mid season turn around with the Cup in hand.

Mayor Val Schier joined the team to celebrate their win on the Cairns Esplanade yesterday afternoon.
 
“It is a party to show just how much we value our local football heroes,” Cr Schier said.
 

Rugby league fans took the opportunity to meet the players and stay for an afternoon barbecue.
