Mossman School presents Seussical the Musical!

By Billy Santo
After a three year break following the runaway success of Back to the 80’s, the students and staff at Mossman High are back with a mega-production entitled "Seussical the Musical" aimed at the whole family.

The Port Douglas Community Hall will be overrun by the Cat in the Hat and other delightful characters from the seminal children’s author Dr Seuss when the High school presents the highly anticipated "Seussical the Musical" on October 14th, 15th and 16th.

The story follows Horton the Elephant as he discovers ‘Whoville’ on a speck of dust that no one else can see.  The playful elephant then undertakes a magnificent journey that will leave you laughing and crying for more.

Over 70 students, staff and community members have been rehearsing the musical for 6 months.  With over 25 original songs based upon the quirky writings of Dr Seuss, you're bound to come across an old favourite!

The school band consists of musicians of all ages, from Year 8 students to community members who have extremely enjoyed being a part of this brilliant production.  The music extends over a wide range of genres, including: soul, rock, cabaret and pop.

Seussical is a bright and energetic performance, all about imagination and the power of friendship.  For the first time in a number of years, there will be a matinee show for younger audience members on the Saturday morning.

The director was inspired by her two year old daughter’s love for the rhythm and characters of Dr Seuss, and aims to bring the magic and wonder to audiences of all ages in the region.

Performances are Thursday 14th October (7pm), Friday 15th October (7pm), Saturday 16th October (11am & 7pm). Tickets are $15 for adults/high school students, $10 for children and $55 for a Family ticket (2 adults and up to 4 children/students from the same family).  There is allocated seating, and tickets are available from the Mossman State High School office  from 8am – 4pm.
