Local beauticians, Carly Nielsenbeck owner of Possums Beauty, Port Douglas and Jo-El Collinson owner of Jo-El Hairdressers in Mossman were selected by visiting superstar Daryl Hannah to make sure she looked her best for her first press conference regarding her involvement at the forthcoming 10th Australasian Permaculture Convergence being held between 24th to 28th September. 

We asked Carly about her new superstar client, she said, "We were delighted to have the opportunity to help, she was so down to earth, you hear stories about other celebs being high maintenance but Daryl was lovely in all senses of the word".

The girls were recommended for the gig because they specialize in using eco friendly products and that is a criteria very close to Ms Hannahs heart.  All the cosmetics used were mineral based from a local company called 'Wild Nature'.  And if you also want to use what the stars use then you can find 'Wild Nature' products at the Port Douglas Sunday Markets every week.

Well done girls, it further illustrates  the superb standard of the beauty practitioners here in the far north when a  superstar of this ranking is confident enough to choose local beauticians instead of bringing her own support entourage as so many image conscious celebrities do. 

And as you can see from the photo Darryl looked at her best after Carly and Jo-el had spun their magic.

Ms Hannah is the keynote speaker at the Conference being held at the Candlenut  Steiner School in Kuranda later this month.  The conference has attracted leading  environmentalists and enthusiasts from around the world.

The main topics of discussion will be general sustainable regional solutions to challenges presented by climate change, depleted energy stores and other pressing  enviro' issues. Food resources will also be a talking point.

The Gala Dinner is a sell out for the evening with over 300 guests attending.

Major General Michael Jeffery, former Governor General of Australia, will also speak at the event’s Opening Ceremony on September 24, with other speakers including  Permaculture Co-founder Mr Bill Mollison and SBS Television’s eco Chef Costa  Georgiadis, of Costa’s Gardening Odyssey.

Candlenut Steiner school is the only school of its kind in Far North Queensland, and all 130 children at Candlenut participate in the school’s established gardening  program, which works with the principles of biodynamics and permaculture.
