Daintree State School to Stay

According to a media release recieved from Member for Cook, Jason O’Brien's office, the Daintree State School is to remain open.

Mr O’Brien said he was ecstatic and he had no doubt the school community would join him in celebrating.  “This is a win for a community that knows the value of its children and the value of working together, I’ve worked with this community and been quite vocal about the review into the school’s future, as I know that Daintree State School has a reputation of being a strong school.

“I should make special mention of Hilary Simons, of the P&C, the staff and school community both past and present who worked to put a positive case for this school’s role in our community".

“It is precisely these people who make Daintree State School such a wonderful learning environment and this is a win for their dedication.   I know from visiting Daintree that this school will go from strength to strength into the future.”

Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson said he was delighted with the response from the school community.  “Looking through the submissions from Daintree State School parents and community members I was struck by the complete commitment to education and the students,” he said. “I know that schools are at the heart of these communities and I know that Daintree State School has a very active community".

“The school review process was about making sure our small schools were providing the best and broadest educational opportunity to our students and, having appraised myself of the information, I am beyond satisfied that this is the case at Daintree.  The response was swift and your local Member Jason O’Brien has been unrelenting in his advocacy of Daintree.  Jason has been a strong voice on this issue and his hard work has paid dividends".

“I’m sure Daintree State School has taken the most from this review process and will move into the future even stronger.”
