Crocs overcome shaky start

After sending a scare through the club after last week's loss to the Saints, all is right in the universe again with the Crocs taking their rightful place in the AFL Cairns Grand Final.

But despite the final score which saw the Crocs prevail by a mammoth 91 point over Centrals, 16.25 (121) to 4.6.(30), the end result looked decidedly uncertain with poor skills and an apparent lack of intensity dogging the favourites until well into the third quarter.

So much so that if it wasn't for the ever reliable Evan Hocking in control in the back half, it could have been a very different story.

While others fumbled and missed targets by hand and foot, it was the Crocs' skipper who stood up to the finals pressure by dominating every contest he made.

His presence in the back line has been a key to the Crocs' success, but he'll need support from his team mates for the full four quarters next week if they are to withstand the attack of a confident Saints team.

The Crocs' attack looked rudderless as one opportunity after another to take control of the game was lost to poor kicking, and it wasn't until the end of the third quarter that they found their range.

The flood gates opened in the last quarter giving the Crocs a seemingly easy win, but it will take all of their skill and determination to overcome the Saints in what will prove to be a tight Grand Final.

With the Reserves in fantastic form to storm home in the latter part of the season to make the Grand Final against North Cairns, the Seniors win sets up a massive weekend for the town.
