Anyone who follows football has heard of teams going undefeated all season, only to go to water in the biggest game of the year.

Luckily for the Crocs they have been given a second chance at redemption after their shock loss to the Cairns Saints by 13 points on Saturday.

An upbeat Evan Hocking, captain of the Crocs, said the team was not ready for the increase in pressure that finals football is renowned for.

"We really struggled with the intensity of the game and we weren't ready for the step up," he said.

"We had three of four winners on the day, and we were beaten in the clearances with our midfield down.

"The coach (Andy Viola) picked out a few players who didn't perform after the game. It's a real wake up call."

Sam Boxall continued his great form this season and was the standout forward for the Crocs kicking four, while century goalkicker Matt Shaw managed just one for the day.

The Saints on the other hand had a predominantly two-pronged attack with Powell and Hallas each kicking four.

Best players for the Crocs were Hocking, Lyons, Smith, Beall, and Boxall, while Powell, Coatsworth, Kennedy, Rushton, Couch, and Parsons performed well for the Saints.
