Cricket greats at coaching camp

Two of Queensland's most successful cricketers are heading north to impart their extensive knowledge to kids attending the 2010 Cricket Coaching Camp.

Jimmy Maher and Andy Bichel, both highly regarded Australian test players, will take part in coaching junior cricketers at Tolga and Cairns starting this Sunday, 26 September.

"Both are experienced players, and being from the country, know how important it is for players to be coached by experienced first class cricketers," said coaching camp coordinator Mike Stoodley.

"Kids will be provided with training of new skills in all aspects of cricket, delivered by some of the best coaches from across the state and locally," he said.

Morrow Park in Tolga will host the coaching camp with Under 10's running from 26 - 28 September, and Under 12's and 13's from 26 - 29 September.

Endeavour Park in Cairns will be the venue for players in the Under 14's, right through to the Under 17 age brackets, and will run from 28 - 30 September.

Mr Stoodley said the programs have been effective in helping young talent improve their game.

"These courses have been successful in developing good players into great players.

"They're delivered in an enthusiastic way to make sure all participants are involved and catered for."
