AFL Grand Final Brekkie Wrap

The annual AFL Grand Final Brekkie was hosted at Rydges Sabaya on Saturday from 8am with bacon and eggs and champagne flowing mixed with anticipation for the St Kilda/Collingwood clash later in the day.

A crowd of about 100 enjoyed the superb brekkies and service provided by thr Rydges crew.  The whole proceedings were MC'd by the incorrigible Dave 'OO' Evans ably supported by an Evan 'Buddha' Hocking look-alike Collingwood fan.

Guest speakers were champion jockey Kerrin McEvoy who told the assembled crowds many of his 'not so glamourous life',  behind the scenes stories    whilst chasing from one meeting to the next especially during his time in the UK.  But life in Dubai didn't sound so bad!

The boys then introduced a true legend of our time, a member of Australia favourite AFL families, one of the four famous Essendon Daniher brothers...non other than 1998 Hall of Famer, Terry Daniher.

Known as 'TD' throughout his successful playing career, Terry spoke for about 20 minutes and had the audience captivated with his hilarious tales of his playing days.  It was also discoverd that he was a pretty good cricketer in his day but due to other pressing committments could not accept an invitation to turn out for the Muddies this season!

An auction was conducted by 'OO' and as usual the Port Douglas Crocs supporters dug deep to raise a tidy sum for charity.

As usual a wonderful social morning which prepared everyone for the AFL Grand Final to follow or should it now be called the Grand Draw 'cos there was nothing final about it finishing 68 - 68.

Unfortunately there will not be another Grand Final Brekkie next week for the replay Final, so it will be everyman for himself on the catering front.  You'd better get to IGA or Coles quickly before all the bacon and eggs are sold.
