Port vs Mossman in mo-off
It's Port vs Mossman in a competition which pits town against town, man against man, mo against mo, in that most fashionable of fundraisers, Movember!
The sprouting of facial hair will not hair will not only draw attention to the stylish alpha-males roaming the two towns, but more importantly has the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.
Michael Foley, Port Douglas' team captain says the response so far has been fantastic.
"We're looking at about 50 blokes getting involved. In Port Douglas there's the Police, The Newsport and tourismportdouglas.com.au team, about 15 guys from Silversonic, Neil Weavers and a few others," he said. "But we're looking for more people to register."
While on the subject, willing participants can register at the Movember website, or if that's a task, Michael is happy to help register you.
There's plenty of competition planned during the 30 day celebration of manhood as Port and Mossman go head to head in a number of events.
"We're going to have a poker night, golf challenge, and a big shindig at the end," Michael said.
Bryce Madgwick, Mossman's man mountain and team captain says he's gathered an intimidating group of Mo-bro's and took a parting shot at their southern rivals.
"Everybody knows how much more manly we are than the Port Douglas girls," he said.
