Local production heads to Cairns

You're invited to the Clink Theatre to see the final show of 'Mapping the Heart', a celebration of the talents of members of the Douglas arts community.

"The show is a performance of original poetry, songs, and multimedia art," said producer, Frank Frikker. "They're linked together like the grid squares of a map, locating the topography of the heart in the landscape of the Douglas region.

"The first show was a great success last Sunday," he said. "Feedback from visitors was excellent and the crowd has been a bit bigger than I had hopped for the first show."

In the show, the writings of local poet and storyteller Helen Ramoutsaki are interpreted in a colourful, vibrant travelogue along the lines of life and love.

Due to the success of the show and the story it tells, 'Mapping the Heart' will take its place as part of the Tropical Writer's Festival in Cairns this Sunday at the Pier Shopping Centre.

"I think this is the first time that a Port Douglas production has moved to Cairns. Usually it is the other way round," Mr Frikker said.

The last running of 'Mapping the Heart' at the Clink will be tomorrow night at 8pm. Tickets are $18 ($15 concession) and can be purchased from Cafe Origin in Grant Street.
