Grand Final for Port FM Sports Show
It’s been a long season but the famous, some say infamous, Radio Port Douglas Sports Show will successfully reach it’s Grand Final show this coming Saturday from 9am to 11am.
The regular Saturday morning show which runs from April to October is hosted by Simon ‘Muffy’ Whatmuff with regular offsiders Kez Larsen (Sports editor from FNQ Independent), Roy Weavers (Editor of Newsport Daily), and of course the man without whom there wouldn’t be a show, Dale “The Sound Hound” Priem.
Each week since April this merry crew have chatted through and analysed all the national, international and local sport with special guests and opinions all mixed in with a fair measure of comedy and music.
When asked what he was going to do with himself over the close season, Roy looked lost and replied, “I may well put the cricket whites on again for the Muddies otherwise I’ve got to paint the house”.
The sports show accompanied a mixed year for our local clubs but the Douglas Dragons gave the team a high spot to go out for the season.
The show starts up again in April next year so with any luck the Port Douglas Muddies Cricket Club will open the show with another premiership success before the footy codes take over the sports scene for the winter months.
It might be an idea to tune in on Saturday just in case there are a few last minute surprises from the guests before the show closes down!
