Tomorrows forecast: Pain

A brave group of men will be making the ultimate sacrifice at The Court House Hotel tomorrow from 1pm in order to raise money for the Shaw family as they continue to support Evie in her battle with cancer.

Around 12 of the area's hairiest males will bear their chests, backs, and any other area they choose as they face the wrath of man's natural enemy, wax, in their 'Wax Off for Evie' fundraising event.

Lead by Darren Wall, Trevor Sands, and Andrew Petrack, the group hopes to raise over $5,000 for Evie's treatment, and the family's living expenses while in Brisbane.

"People will pay $5 for someone to grow a mo, but will hopefully pay $50 or $100 to see us get a wax," Trevor said.

"I am sure the waxing is going to be a painful experience for me, but this is a cause that I feel happy to make the sacrifice for," Andrew said.

Darren knows all too well what challenges Evie faces having survived three bouts of cancer himself. "Everything she's about to start (chemotherapy and radiotherapy), I've had," he said.

Trevor said the early signs of Evie's treatment are positive. "She's had her operation and started radiotherapy with promising results from the latest test."

Clearly the best job of the day falls to the girls who are inflicting the pain on the defenceless participants including professional waxers Carly from Possums, and Michelle from Salon Luxe.

Raffles and prizes including reef trips, spa treatments, accommodation and loads more will be awarded during the Wax Off for Evie, and you can receive footage of the carnage by making a donation.

Trevor reflected the sentiments of the entire community by saying "They all know we're doing our best for them."

So what can we expect when we arrive at The Courty tomorrow afternoon? In the immortal words of Mr T in Rocky III, "Prediction? Pain!"
