QQ boasts Port talent

Quintessential Quirk 2010 is heading to the Rydges Sabaya ballroom in Port Douglas on Sunday after local talent Upasana Papadopoulos featured in a successful Cairns show recently.

"It was a second opportunity for me to sing in Cairns and my first ever at Rondo theatre. It was an incredible buzz to be performing at the theatre," Upsana said.

"I could just feel the energy of all the performances that must have taken place there over the years. I felt like Liza Minelli carousing around back stage."

"Karen is one of the musicians I met through the various muso nights I attended when I first moved to the Douglas Shire.

"The highlight of the show for me is singing harmonies with Karen in the first song of the night that we do together," she said.

The Rydges show will be the second, and last, showing of Quintessential Quirk 2010 which brings together a like-minded collection of local amateur and professional musicians.

Quintessential Quirk is described as a mix of solo performances, songs with special guests and as an ensemble with a full band.  According to the show's star, Karen White, most of the songs are often embellished with some very interesting lyrics pushing the show towards adult only status.

Tickets, if not sold out, will continue to be available up until the night of the show, or you can purchase tickets from Cafe Ecco in Port Douglas or Goodies in Mossman. All profits from the show go to Kids In Need of Donations (KIND).
