Local dancers have bright future
Some local dancers are one step closer to turning their dreams into reality after being accepted into some of Australia's most reputable dance organisations.
Bodies In Motion Dance School teacher Saskia Turner is one of only 30 students accepted into RAW Dance Company in Brisbane as a full time student in 2011.
"This will provide Saskia with all the tools to start her career as a professional dancer," said Bodies In Motion Principal Prue Borzi.
"The programme covers all aspects of professional dance in all styles and it prepares dancers for entering the very competitive world of commercial dance."
The full time course is also a feeder into the RAW Dance Professional company which tours both nationally and internationally, including Asia, America and Europe.
In September this year, Saskia made the trek to Brisbane where she was accepted on her first day of auditioning. In addition to Saskia's acceptance, 11 year old Sena Fujiwara has been accepted into the Australian Ballet School Interstate/International Training Programme.
Sena was one of only 300 students from around the world to be accepted. "Sena will participate in intensive training classes during school holidays at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne to improve her dance skills and technique," Ms Borzi said.
"Should Sena decide to take her ballet further in the years to come, the programme will be a great lead into full time ballet school."
Bodies In Motion are clearly a fine breeding ground for talent with Tamika Pitt and Georgia Balkwell also preparing for auditions for the Queensland Dance School of Excellence in Brisbane.
If successful, the girls will be attending dance classes at the Queensland Ballet School in all styles of dance.
"This will give them a wide range of areas and opportunities to experience and to improve their dance skills, and will give them an enormous head start into a career in professional dance," Ms Borzi said.
