Kochie campaign gains momentum
Kochie and his Sunrise morning program crew are one step closer to visiting Port Douglas thanks to the efforts of Century 21 Port Douglas' Soula Kazakis and the support of her campaign from locals.
Sunrise attracts over 300,000 viewers each day, and Ms Kazakis says she is feeling more optimistic of success after recent developments.
"Channel 7 has contacted us and said that they've put our proposal in front of the Executive Producer," she said. "They also want to see the letters that we've received from locals."
Offers from local businesses have already flooded in. "We've had heaps of offers of accommodation including a $1 million mansion, and Daintree EcoLodge willing to put up the crew."
Ms Kazakis is also trying to secure a deal with Qantas and Jetstar which would see the crew fly to Cairns free of charge.
The campaign has now gone online where you can sign a petition (add you name at the bottom of the page) which will also be presented to the show's producers. Over 70 people have participated in the petition to date.
Ms Kazakis said it's not too late to throw your support behind the campaign, urging residents and business owners to "get those letters to us asap."
